Despite the not so favourable weather conditions at the Saint sports day this weekend hundreds of Saints/family and friends started to arrive at the Reading Abbey Rugby Club sports ground on Saturday around noon. By Saturday evening the Abbey rugby club ground had transformed itself into a lively St Helena Style Campsite. Unfortunately, the weather man was right for once as Sunday morning the rain poured down continuing throughout the day but despite the weather conditions people still drove for miles for the annual meet up. The normal sports activities that was planned never took place due to the constant rainfall as the main sports field had become waterlogged. The sports day committee soon changed their planned to plan B and other indoor events took place inside of the main club house instead.
After the eventful day Trevor Thom’s sat down and told Johnny Clingham briefly his thoughts on this year’s event.
The highlight of day was the raffle draw for two air tickets to win a trip to St Helena from Jo-burg the lucky winners were Tina and Simon Anderson who live in Wiltshire UK.
Tina explains her reactions to raffle prize.

Despite the weather conditions, Saints from the Falklands, Germany, Canada, Ascension, and also a family from Florida had travelled to Reading for the event.
The lively evening continued with a disco in the main marquee and DJ Phillip Thompson and Colin Peters entertained in the main clubhouse”
