In 1659 on 5 May Captain John Dutton arrived on St Helena with the first Colonist which is the birth of our Community as a people.
The Community of St Helena also played a vital part in the eradication of the Slave Trade and Slavery during the 19th Century.
A service to commemorate the birth of our Community as a people and to give thanks to God for our participation in the eradication of the slave trade and slavery during the 19th Century will take place at St Michael’s Church, Ruperts on Sunday 9 May at 4.30pm”
