Fisheries Discussion with SHG Officials

At 3pm on Monday 27th July 2020, Cllr Lawson Henry, Nicole Shamier (SHG Chief Economist) and Darren Duncan (Director -ANRD) joined Vince Thompson for an update and discussion on the latest position on St Helena Fisheries.
This was a wide ranging and informative discussion which provided some clarification on the position of the proposed Fishing Co-Operative and PQ Trading.
Items discussed include how Quota’s have been determined and how they may be governed in the future and how a proposed collaboration between the Fisherman and Scientists would be mutually beneficial to ensure that St Helena obtains its fair share of Quota that is based on actual data rather some arbitrary number to meet nominal Quota handed down by ICAT. How Exploratory Licences generating data on sustainable species specific numbers and tagging would support this was discussed along with associated subjects
